From July 14th to August 2nd, 3 of my paintings will be on display at the Foyer Gallery in the Nepean Sportsplex. Come check it out!
I've done quite a few tweaks here from the last photo I posted. I added the missing whiskers for starters. I painted a thin wash of darker colour on the nose to dull it down a bit as it was too bright for reality. Then I added some layers of fur to the face and around the neck. The body got a lot of work done: I'm always working in the direction of the fur and roundness of the body. This method suggests the folds of the skin. I added a bit more highlight to the 2nd eye, which is somewhat hidden by the bridge of the nose. Once done with all that, it was time to start the foliage! I created my own composition using reference photos from Mud lake. Still some layers to add, but I think it's coming along nicely! Already on the tail of my last painting (Green Iguana) I've started another one. Here's a glimpse of the first few layers. This picture only portrays a section of the board, which in reality has much more real-estate (20" x 10"). I've put a few more layers on here, but still missing some key elements; notably the whiskers! However, you can get a feel of the direction I'm headed with this work. This bobcat was tough to photograph. He was pacing back and forth pretty regularly, but I managed to snag this pose and was thrilled to be able to see the eyes so clearly! Stay tuned for more updates as I progress! |
